Summer Time Diaper Bag Essentials

As the weather warms up and seasons change, it’s a good idea to switch up the “essentials” carried in the diaper bag. Of course, there are a few things that will always be essential no matter the season like diapers, wipes, snacks and an extra change of clothing.

Prior to jumping in, just a friendly reminder to swap out the clothing to a summer outfit. Nothing is worse than needing an outfit change due to a blowout but the extra outfit is a fleece lined onesie. I’m speaking from personal experience, haha. If you’re up for a story, read the next paragraph, if you’re tight on time, scroll on down!

So, I went to a vineyard with my parents and brought my daughter along who was about 7 months at the time. Joy, my daughter, ended up having one of the biggest blows up I had ever experienced with her. Upon reaching into the diaper bag, all I had was a summer romper--it was the middle of October and we were in a coastal town so the weather was breezy. Definitely not summer romper weather. It was terrible! I had to bundle my baby in a swaddle and blanket. I had to keep her all bundled up in the stroller. I’m glad I found a solution but momma certainly learned her lesson! Pack according to the season.

There are 4 essentials that I’ve learned the carry in my pouch:

  1. A Fan. Yes, a fan! Mine is battery operated but it has certainly helped cool me and the kids downs, literally, when we’re out at the park or even indoors, it can get hot.
  2. Sunscreen. Protect the skin. If we end up being outside longer than planned or get ourselves into some water activities, this has come in handy.
  3. Allergy Medicine. I pop some Claritin in the medicine bag as one of my kids has pollen allergy. I never know when it may sneak up.
  4. Socks. So soo so many times when we’ve been somewhere that required socks or even in the car with the a/c running and my kid complains that their feet are cold.

What’s a summer time essential for you? Let me know in the comments! In the mean time, keep rocking mom life and being a bad momma jamma!

Xo,

Ellyse
